I recall that "March of the Penguins" had an astounding 968 percent ROI -- a $77.4 million gross against an $8 million budget. Granted, most documentary filmmakers would be pleased to make even a small return on their work, beyond their production costs. Also, many people are eager for alternative film storylines that include something other than the predictable Hollywood studio themes. Walt, this is uplifting news for all the Indie docs that are never given the opportunity to find out if there is a commercial opportunity for their topic.
