Thank-you Shane for the heads up.

Best Buy has both pre-order and soon to be available in-store sales of the HERO without the need to pre-pay the $100 mail-in rebate charged at Sprint stores and at Sprint.com.

The statement that "Android has less than 10% of the 85,000 apps the iPhone now offers" is not correct. The Android Market had over 10,000 apps when this review was published on September 30, 2009. Also, it should be noted that Android devices have the ability to multi-task, and competitors such as the iPhone lack this advanced capability. As a consequence, an incoming call would cause the iPhone to suspend the operation of a turn-by-turn navigation app and you could unknowingly drive past the next turn on your trip. On an Android device, the navigation app would continue to run in the background and would notify you of approaching turns. Furthermore, the Android Market has CoPilot, a navigation app that is easily on par with a Garmin or a TomTom and doesn't require a monthly fee, such as the navigation apps available for the iPhone. Android's biggest shortcoming is that its backers have failed to tout the substantive advantages it has over competing devices.

Mike, I know BestBuy was handling the rebate in store at the time of the sale when you did the pre-order thing, but not sure if they are doing the same for "post release sales". May be worth checking out.

Rob is correct. The Hero in Europe has a much different exterior design, but is largely the same in terms of user experience. However, I disagree with Rob -- I think the Euro design is nicer and that the U.S. one is blander.
